GDPR Rights
Last updated: 17 May 2026
LingaCast complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679). This page explains the rights you have over your personal data and how to exercise them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.
1. Who can exercise these rights
Any natural person whose personal data is processed by LingaCast — whether you are an account holder, an event presenter, an interpreter, a viewer of a live event, or the speaker in a recording uploaded by a customer — may exercise the rights below, regardless of where you reside.
2. Your rights at a glance
| Article | Right | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Art. 15 | Right of access | Confirm whether we process your personal data and receive a copy together with information about how it is used. |
| Art. 16 | Right to rectification | Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected without undue delay. |
| Art. 17 | Right to erasure | Request deletion of your personal data — the “right to be forgotten” — where one of the GDPR grounds applies. |
| Art. 18 | Right to restriction | Limit how we process your data while a dispute about accuracy or lawfulness is resolved. |
| Art. 20 | Right to portability | Receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and transmit it to another controller. |
| Art. 21 | Right to object | Object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests, including any profiling. |
| Art. 22 | Automated decision-making | Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal effects. LingaCast does not make such decisions. |
| Art. 7 | Withdraw consent | Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. |
3. Controller vs. processor
When you have a LingaCast account, we are the controller of your account and billing data. When we process audio, transcripts, or recordings on behalf of a customer (for example, captioning a live event), we act as processor on that customer's instructions — the customer is the controller.
If you are a viewer, speaker, or interpreter and your data was processed as part of an event run by a LingaCast customer, please address your request to that customer in the first instance. We will route requests to them where applicable and assist them in responding.
4. How to submit a request
Send your request by email to privacy@lingacast.com. Please include:
- The right you wish to exercise (e.g. access, erasure).
- Enough information to identify you and the data concerned — typically the account email, organisation, and (for event data) the event ID or date.
- Proof of identity if we cannot confirm it from the account itself. We ask for the minimum necessary.
Account holders can also export data and trigger account deletion directly from the dashboard under Settings → Privacy.
5. Response time and fees
We respond within 30 calendar days of receiving a valid request. For complex or numerous requests we may extend this by a further two months and will tell you why within the initial 30 days. Requests are handled free of charge; we may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse, only where requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive — in which case we will explain our reasoning.
6. International transfers
Your personal data is processed exclusively within the European Union. Every sub-processor operates from an EU region or, for global providers, under an EU subsidiary with data residency pinned to the EU. No Standard Contractual Clauses are required because no Customer data leaves the EEA. See our DPA for the full sub-processor list.
7. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or place of the alleged infringement. A list of national authorities is published by the European Data Protection Board at edpb.europa.eu.
We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns before you approach a supervisory authority — please contact us first.
