What we collect
Only three things:
- What you send us. If you book a meeting or write to sales or support, we keep your name, email, company and message so we can reply.
- Your account. If you sign up, we keep your email, a hashed password, and the minutes you've used — that's the whole record.
- Page statistics, if you agree. Which pages get visited, and roughly from where — through Google Analytics, and only after you accept it.
Cookies and statistics
We use Google Analytics, and only if you press Accept in the cookie banner: until then the Google script is not even loaded, and after Reject it never is. With your consent it sets first-party cookies whose names begin with _ga that last up to 14 months. Google signals, advertising features and ad personalisation are switched off. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track and you haven't chosen, we take that as a no and don't ask. Your answer is kept in your browser's localStorage, and you can change it at any time.
Which language you see
When you arrive at an English page of this website without having chosen a language, our server looks up which country your IP address is registered in and shows you the page in that country's language if the site has it, and in English otherwise. Where a country has several of the site's languages, your browser's language settings choose between them, or else the language we have set for that country. If your address can't be placed in a country, your browser's language settings choose instead, and you see English if they name none of the site's languages. The lookup uses DB-IP's country database on our own server and happens in memory: the address is not stored for it. Search engines are never redirected.
A cookie named lc_lang then remembers the language, and holds nothing else. It lasts until you close your browser when we chose the language, and for one year when you pick one in the language menu. It is strictly functional, so it needs no consent, and it is never used for statistics or advertising. To change it, pick another language or delete the cookie.
Your event content
Audio, video, captions and transcripts you put through the platform are yours. We process them to produce the translations, dubbing and captions you asked for, and we store the results so you can publish them. We do not use your content to train models. Delete an event and its media is deleted with it.
When you watch an event, its player records the country you're watching from, looked up on our own server from your network address (IP Geolocation by DB-IP). The platform keeps only the country, never the address. Our web server's log keeps a shortened form of the address, with its last part removed, and deletes it within two months; only a request that fails is logged with the full address, for fault-finding, and deleted on the same schedule.
Who else is involved
Processing live translation needs a few specialist suppliers. Each one only ever sees what it needs to do its job:
- Google (Gemini API) — speech recognition, translation and synthesis.
- Cloudflare — media storage and global delivery of your streams and files.
- Microsoft (Office 365) — the mail we send you.
- Google (Google Analytics) — page statistics, only if you accept them.
How long we keep it
Event media and transcripts stay until you delete them or close your account. Enquiries and bookings are kept for two years. The language cookie lasts until you close your browser, or one year if you picked the language yourself. Google deletes visit-level page statistics after at most 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected, or have it deleted — see GDPR for how. Email privacy@lingacast.com and we'll answer within 30 days.
